How Do You Sleep at Night? (2023)

Teezo Touchdown, a rapper and singer born and raised in Beaumont, Texas, dropped one of the most intriguing and controversial debut albums in recent memory with 2023’s How Do You Sleep at Night?, which managed to find novel ways of melding rap and rock. Since he first achieved viral recognition with 2019’s buzzy single “100 Drums,” sampling Panic! at the Disco’s “I Write Sins Not Tragedies,” Teezo garnered a striking degree of support from established superstars. Trippie Redd was his first famous fan, followed by Chance the Rapper. Then Tyler the Creator came on board, featuring Teezo on “Runitup” from 2021’s Call Me If You Get Lost and as an opening act on the album’s accompanying tour. As Teezo’s profile rose, he ended up on two of the highest-profile hip-hop releases of 2023, performing on two songs on Drake’s For All the Dogs, as well as an unforgettable appearance on “Modern Jam,” from Travis Scott’s Utopia. Teezo went on to open for Scott on his arena Circus Maximus tour, while Drake publicly said that Teezo’s debut was “some of the best music ever.” — Brian Hiatt
