A sharp-witted host and one of late night fixture, Jimmy Kimmel was born in Brooklyn in 1967 and raised in Las Vegas. He began in radio before breaking into television in the late Nineties as a co-host of the Comedy Central game show Win Ben Stein’s Money, a role that earned him a Daytime Emmy Award. Soon after, he co-created Comedy Central’s The Man Show, which he co-hosted for the first four seasons.

In 2003, Kimmel debuted Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC, which replaced Bill Maher’s Politically Incorrect and has since grown into one of late-night’s staples. Since its launch, the talk show has mixed sharp political monologues with viral comedy bits like “Mean Tweets” and high-profile celebrity interviews. The show has continued to run on ABC ever since, featuring segments such as “This Week in Unnecessary Censorship” and “Lie Witness News.” In September 2025, ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live! indefinitely after Kimmel commented on MAGA’s response to the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

Outside of his nightly duties, Kimmel has hosted the Academy Awards four times and the Emmys three times, earning an Emmy as a host of the 96th Academy Awards. He also co-created and voiced characters on Comedy Central’s prank-call puppet series Crank Yankers, and has lent his voice to several films, including Ted in the Boss Baby franchise, Batman in Teen Titans Go! To the Movies, and Tardigrade in the most recent Smurfs film. —Tomás Mier
