And we are feeling its devastating effects.Climate change is cranking up the intensity of extreme weather events here in Australia and worldwide. Massive bushfires blazing all year round, hotter, longer, more frequent heatwaves, devastating droughts, and storm surges riding on higher seas are all influenced by climate change. The oceans are warming. The Great Barrier Reef, the world’s largest living marine structure, is finding little reprieve from more intense and frequent marine heatwaves that cause devastating bleaching. Coral bleaching is happening on a scale and with a frequency not seen before. Biologists predict that if we continue carrying on the way we are then by the end of this century 50% of species living today will face extinction. And humans are not immune. To see ourselves as different and separate to the ecology and ecosystem of our planet is leaving humanity unprepared for the world we are currently destroying. The sooner we recognise and acknowledge this, the sooner we can start embracing more sustainable ways to address the imbalance and try and right the scales. There is hope. Renewables are the cheapest and most ecological form of new energy today. Countries around the world are phasing out fossil fuels as a power source. The world’s brightest minds are trying to catalyze change. We can see that through international unity – when we all work together -we can start to turn the tide.My new series ‘Endangered’ is a reframing of the notion of ourselves as human beings – mammals in a sensitive ecosystem, as vulnerable to the same forces of climate change as every other living creature. The difference being that the power and responsibility lies with us.{{/image:caption}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Jane_Goodall_Self_Portrait_Final_24x16-1.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}Jane_Goodall_Self_Portrait_Final_24x16{{/image:title}}{{image:caption}}Jane Goodall’s "Self Portrait"{{/image:caption}}{{/image:image}}{{/url}}{{url}}{{loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/product-recommendations/product-recommendations-pictures/best-luxury-gifts-1122422/{{/loc}}{{lastmod}}2022-03-23T19:35:18+00:00{{/lastmod}}{{changefreq}}monthly{{/changefreq}}{{priority}}0.7{{/priority}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Sicily-Candle.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}Sicily-Candle{{/image:title}}{{image:caption}}If your mother appreciates a good candle, you can’t beat one from Sicily Hill.
All of them come in a little handbag, which makes opening each one feel special. We recommend buying this lavender triple wick candle which mom can light right before bedtime, during her evening baths, or just while reading in the living room.
Sicily’s candles are made out of soy-based wax and hand-poured in the United States, and it’s easy to see the amount of care that goes into each one.

It can infuse regular tap water with CO2, letting you make seltzer at any time, and giving you total control over your beverage’s carbonation. It can provide refreshments for a party, or the perfect base for a cocktail.
Not only will you be cutting down on your carbon footprint, but the Carbonator II will also save your mom from having to lug heavy bottles or cans around a grocery store.
We’re recommending this gift because of how well it works, but its sleek, stainless steel frame screams class, too. remains of a small general store largely destroyed in the early hours of this day when a car bomb destroyed a neighbouring Afghan National Security Forces base by the gate that divides Kabul and Wardak provinces. Officials said 2 members of the security forces were killed but local business owners said the area was "covered with bodies" after the explosion. Gridlock is a daily feature of the same stretch of road at the entrance to Kabul. Trucks drivers queuing there complained of the insecurity on the road and its deteriorating condition, caused in large part by fighting between government and Taliban forces and, more specifically, by the Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) that the Taliban use to target their government enemies on the highway. In Wardak, the highway is littered with gaping craters caused by the IEDs, which, in turn, prolonging the journeys of commercial truck drivers and regular motorists alike. Truck drivers also complain of the numerous toll points along the highway from Helmand to Wardak. Perhaps surprisingly, most of the illegal toll-points are manned by government security forces rather than the Taliban.{{/image:caption}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/000035190006.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}56061 Akasha rabut{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/000770420008.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}000770420008{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/BradElterman2_1070850.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}Brad Elterman{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/CJ-x-MP-x-RS-14.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}CJ-x-MP-x-RS-14{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/DSC02149_edited.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}DSC02149_edited{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/FINAL-000000350003.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}FINAL-000000350003{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Lee_Houston-Artists24.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}Lee_Houston-Artists24{{/image:title}}{{image:caption}}Houston recording artist Maxo Kream is photographed outside a convenient store on Saturday May 01, 2021 in Houston, Tx.{{/image:caption}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Portrait_Couch_0061.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}Portrait_Couch_0061{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/princess-nokia-sacha-lecca_6271.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}princess-nokia-sacha-lecca_6271{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/010621_Stop-the-Steal-Credit-Nate-Gowdy-10.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}010621_Stop-the-Steal-Credit-Nate-Gowdy-10{{/image:title}}{{image:caption}}Steven Fender flips the bird, saying, "This is our house, our ground, and that’s why we took down that fence that we paid for and came up here to let them know this is our building, our country, and we’re taking it back."{{/image:caption}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Rina-0011683-x_F1_RGB.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}Rina-0011683-x_F1_RGB{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/28791_JRU_004_01.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}28791_JRU_004_01{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/olmos_astroworld-memorial-0605.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}olmos_astroworld-memorial-0605{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/D4A8834-2.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}D4A8834-2{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/RS_DojaCat-000019730006.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}RS_DojaCat-000019730006{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/24kgoldn_4279-1.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}24kgoldn_4279-1{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/LattoXRS_EricHartJrRetouched.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}LattoXRS_EricHartJrRetouched{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/POM-POM-SQUAD_20.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}POM-POM-SQUAD_20{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/billie-eilish_4742.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}billie-eilish_4742{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/R1351_FEA_TV_JustinT.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}R1351_FEA_TV_JustinT{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/5G8A5606.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}5G8A5606{{/image:title}}{{image:caption}}November 19, 2020. Queens, NY.
Nawanna Snipe Tucker and her adopted daughter Deanna Montgomery spent an afternoon at home helping Deanna with her virtual classes, making “dream boards” where they wrote their dreams for the future, and cooking dinner together. As Nawanna cooked dinner, she got a call from the pro bono lawyer helping with her husband’s wrongful conviction suit. They are hopeful that the long is on their side and that Curtis could be released soon, but years of navigating the system have left Nawanna with little faith.
Nawanna’s husband Curtis Tucker is currently incarcerated at age 55 at Otisville. Before that he was at Easton for 25 years.
The couple met at a Burger King in Brooklyn in 1984 and had a brief relationship but stayed friends. He’s been incarcerated for 32 years. They reconnected 10 years ago and were married in 2014. She says he’s never afraid, but he’s very afraid of covid. He’s reported lack of access to sanitary conditions and PPE. Nawanna reconnected with him because she is trying to help him win a wrongful conviction suit.{{/image:caption}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/RollingStone_Tems_CSY_Print_Final_2.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}RollingStone_Tems_CSY_Print_Final_2{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/210510_RollingStone_JackA0913.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}210510_RollingStone_JackA0913{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/DSC_0268.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}DSC_0268{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/INA21004__1205.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}Scenes from the 2021 Inauguration of Joe Biden for President of the United States in Washington, DC.{{/image:title}}{{image:caption}}A Donald Trump doll in the shadow of the US Capitol in Washington, DC on January 20, 2021.{{/image:caption}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/JULIEN-BAKER-ROLLING-STONE-SHOOT-932020.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}JULIEN-BAKER-ROLLING-STONE-SHOOT-932020{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/CJ-x-MP-x-RS-5.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}CJ-x-MP-x-RS-5{{/image:title}}{{/image:image}}{{image:image}}{{image:loc}}https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/20210922_AJQ_Kabul_Afg_0135-Edit.jpg{{/image:loc}}{{image:title}}20210922_AJQ_Kabul_Afg_0135-Edit{{/image:title}}{{image:caption}}A mixed grade six class five weeks after the Taliban took control of Kabul and Afghanistan.
