Nicki Minaj’s Five Biggest Online Feuds

This summer alone, rap icon Nicki Minaj has fired off dozens of posts on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, tearing down other celebrities in her orbit, including Megan Thee StallionJay-Z, and SZA. Minaj, of course, is no stranger to conflict, having engaged in prominent feuds with fellow rappers Remy Ma, Lil’ Kim, and Cardi B over the years, too. While the brunt of those beefs occurred relatively offline through diss tracks, and, in the case of Cardi B, a physical altercation, the “Barbie World” MC has notably engaged in several social media fights that the whole world could watch in real-time. Sometimes they’re a bit one-sided, without Minaj’s targets biting back, but that hasn’t stopped her from airing out grievances.

At their most extreme, Minaj’s online antics have also egged on her hypervigilant stan-base, the Barbz, to harass netizens of lesser status. In 2018, when freelance writer Wanna Thompson tweeted a critique of Minaj’s contemporary work as immature, Thompson soon faced the wrath of the Barbz, some of whom told her to die by suicide and posted pictures of her then four-year-old daughter in their attacks. Minaj herself had messaged Thompson with a barrage of personal insults as well. Then, in 2022, Minaj retweeted messages from fans attacking cultural commentator Kimberly Foster, who had criticized some of the rapper’s work and called her “a horrible person.” In turn, Foster shared screenshots of Minaj’s fans flooding her phone with harassment and threats, including of sexual violence, robbery, and kidnapping. Minaj liked tweets that said “Where’s the threats? All I see is people telling you to leave Nicki name out ya mouth & tweets btch [sic]!” and “This is exactly what you get for speaking on her without checking the whole story before. I am absolutely not sorry for you.”

Below is a rundown of Nicki’s most high-profile online tussles with artists and executives of her own stature.
