Millions of Americans took to the streets on Saturday, October 18, for the second “No Kings” protest since Donald Trump took office for the second time earlier this year. The president’s administration and his Republican allies in Congress have been painting the demonstrations as “anti-American,” describing the protesters exercising their First Amendment rights as “terrorists.” Trump made his feelings clear in an AI video posted to his Truth Social page depicting himself wearing a crown while flying a plane dumping feces on the gathered masses.

In reality, the protesters simply don’t want America to turn into an authoritarian state. “We’re here representing normal people — regular, peaceful Americans — who are against what this administration is doing, who are against the occupation of our cities and the disappearing of our neighbors off the streets,” Jermaine Collins, a 34-year-old veteran of the war in Afghanistan, told Rolling Stone while marching in Washington, D.C.

The protests were not confined to the nation’s capital, with anti-Trump Americans marching everywhere from Anchorage, Alaksa, to Venice, Florida — and pretty much everywhere in between. They dressed for the occasion, too, as photos of the demonstrations makes clear.
