Ivan Cornejo Makes History at Radio City Music Hall
Ivan Cornejo made history over the weekend at Radio City Music Hall. The 20-year-old star became the youngest música mexicana act to headline the iconic venue in New York City. In two sold-out concerts on May 3 and 4, Cornejo powered through his hits as a part of his Mirada Tour Parte 2.
As one of the young pioneers of the Gen-Z takeover of música mexicana, the singer has created his own lane in the genre by blending the genres of his ancestors with elements of alternative rock inspired by bands like Tame Impala, the Arctic Monkeys, and Metallica. Though Cornejo first broke through in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic with the sad boy anthem “Está Dañada,” he has since performed at music festivals like Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, and most recently Coachella.
“There’s always something that every fan has in common, and it’s that they all have such a big heart and are always super in touch with their emotions, and they’re not shy to let it out,” Cornejo told Rolling Stone in the March 2025 cover story. “They’re very, very passionate.”
Cornejo’s fans came out in full force at Radio City Music Hall. With his guitar-in hand, he performed his biggest hits like “Está Dañada,” “Ya Te Perdí,” “Baby Please,” and his recent single “Me Prometí.” Through the emotional bond that Cornejo has cultivated with his fans, they sang along to every word of his 20-song set. The Mexican troubadour is a master at bringing the feelings behind his heart-wrenching ballads to life in a live setting.
